DENVER -- When discussing the complications that can lead to an inflated ERA at Coors Field for any pitching staff that visits, manager Mike Matheny and pitching coach Derek Lilliquist both mentioned to Rick Hummel something other than the elevation.
It's not just how thin the air is up here.
It's how big the outfield is.
There are a lot of places to find hits in the Coors Field outfield, and when the infield grass was even swifter there was a lot of ways to find a hit by getting through the fielders into the outfield.
