ST. LOUIS • As the front office expected and advertised more than a week ago, the Cardinals finalized 2016 contracts this week with all of the coaches on manager Mike Matheny's staff.
It will be the first time in Matheny's tenure that his staff won't have any turnover.
The new contracts, confirmed Friday afternoon by general manager John Mozeliak, mean the return of hitting coach John Mabry and pitching coach Derek Lilliquist along with bench coach David Bell. Bell and assistant hitting coach Bill Mueller were in the first year of those positions in 2015, and both will be back at the same positions.
