Cards crack Lester before rain slows everything

CHICAGO • The Cardinals and Cubs played in increasingly ugly weather for half of an inning before home plate umpire Ted Barrett relented and called for the tarp.

The game is now in delay with the Cardinals lead, 2-0, through 7 1/2.

It was a half of inning the teams didn't need to play, but now that they have it's not quite clear how long the umpires will wait for the game to restart. They can, technically, call the game at any time with the Cardinals leading after the sixth inning.

That was when the Cardinals cracked Lester's no hitter.
