CHICAGO • The Cardinals, having been generous to the Cubs a few times already this series, got some return in the sixth inning.
A walk and a wild pitch set up the rally that has allowed the Cardinals to tie the game, 6-6, going into the bottom of the sixth inning. Yadier Molina singled, stole second, and then advanced to third on the wild pitch. A walk to Tommy Pham and that same wild pitch gave the Cardinals two runners in scoring position.
This time they got the hit they've been missing.
After rookie Paul DeJong's groundout scored Molina, Aledmys Diaz drove a pitch to the ivy that scored Pham and knotted the game.
