The party of the second part, John Gant, did his job, pitching around some defensive issues to allow only one run in three innings. Matt Bowman, the first reliever, was fine, striking two in his only inning. John Brebbia and Tyler Lyons, the final two of five relievers, also were fine, striking out a total of five in two innings.
