The National League wild-card game is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 6, with either San Francisco or Los Angeles playing host to the No. 2 wild-card team in the league, which almost certainly will be the Cardinals, based on their historic winning streak of 12 games.
But, even after Thursday’s games, there isn’t a clear signal pointing to which West Coast team would be the top wild-card team and, more importantly, to the Giants and Dodgers, who would finish first in the Western Division. The Giants are one game ahead of the Dodgers with each team having nine games remaining but none against each other.
