In the first significant rewrite of their roster this season, the Cardinals will option Reyes and infielder Yairo Munoz to Class AAA Memphis on Sunday and rework the team’s bullpen before the afternoon game against San Diego. Officials with the team confirmed the moves, adding that the corresponding moves had not been finalized. Daniel Ponce de Leon is an obvious candidate to be promoted as a long reliever, and the Cardinals will also consider lefties Genesis Cabrera and Tyler Webb to augment the bullpen. The need of the bullpen is immediate, but the focus of the move is to get Reyes innings he needs to be sharper.
