The Cardinals scored four runs in the sixth inning, three of them scoring without the ball leaving the infield as it was a testament to paper cuts, not power, in the Cardinals' 6-3 win over the Giants on Sunday night at Busch Stadium.
The Cardinals took two out of three from the Giants and on their brief homestand. The Cardinals are off Monday before playing at Cincinnati on Tuesday.
Carlos Martinez got the win to improve to 6-5, allowing four hits while striking out seven, walking two and throwing three wild pitches.
Back-to-back doubles by Matt Carpenter (to right) and Aledmys Diaz (to left) got things started in the sixth.
