The Cardinals didn't exactly assert themselves in the fifth inning against Colorado starter Chad Bettis. But they managed to break up his no-hitter at Busch Stadium.
With the Cardinals trailing 3-0, Jeremy Hazelbaker got the home team's first safety, beating out an infield hit. Hazelbaker was then erased on a fielder's choice grounder by Aledmys Diaz.
With one out, Kolten Wong reached Bettis for another infield hit, beating a defensive shift by hitting the ball to the left side. Pinch-hitting for Garcia, Brandon Moss flied deep to center. Both runners tagged and moved up. But Matt Carpenter flied out to deep right field, ending the threat.
