Cardinals take early 1-0 lead as Fowler triples

Dexter Fowler's recent offensive rut may soon be coming to an end.

Fowler led off the bottom of the first in Tuesday night's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates with a triple off the right field wall. The ball kicked off the bottom of the fence near the Cardinals' bullpen and bounced away from Pirates right fielder Adam Frazier.

Fowler later scored on a Stephen Piscotty fielder's choice. Piscotty tried to check his swing on a 2-2 pitch, but hit the ball slowly enough where Fowler was able to beat first baseman Josh Bell's throw home even though Pittsburgh played the infield in.
