JUPITER, Fla. • Aledmys Diaz doubled for his first extra-base hit of the spring and the Cardinals jumped Washington’s Stephen Strasburg for four quick runs in the first inning on Wednesday.
Diaz had been hitting .412 with all singles before bouncing a hit of left-field wall. That hit sent Dexter Fowler, who had walked, to third base. Fowler trotted home on Jhonny Peralta’s groundout. And Diaz came around on a single to right by Matt Adams.
Randal Grichuk singled to left and Adams alertly tagged and went to third on Patrick Wisdom’s fly ball to Adam Lind, normally a first baseman, who was patrolling left field.
