Erratic lefthander Jaime Garcia, returning to the rotation after nearly two weeks out of it, surely will be out of it again, perhaps for good. He was finished almost before he started Monday night. As were the Cardinals.
Garcia, on whom the Cardinals may not exercise a $12 million club option for next year, was yanked after one inning at Busch Stadium in which he allowed back-to-back solo homers to Cincinnati’s Joey Votto and Adam Duvall and three stolen bases. As it turned out, that was a good inning for the Cardinals.
Reliever Michael Wacha, stretched into a third inning for the first time since coming off the disabled list, lagged badly in the fourth, giving up six singles and six runs in the inning.
