New starter Miles Mikolas is not the only pitcher the Cardinals hope to see flourish after a return from playing oversees.
The Cardinals have agreed to a minor-league deal with pitcher Preston Guilmet, who last pitched in Tokyo.
The right-hander will receive an invitation to major league spring training, and stands to make $600,000 plus incentives if he reaches the majors, according to a FanRagSports.com report.
Guilmet, 30, has not pitched in the majors since 2015, when the journeyman reliever split time between the Rays and Brewers. He spent the entire 2016 season at the Class AAA level.
