Since 2014 David Peralta has been an average outfielder for the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 33 year old made his debut in 2014 and had two pretty solid years offensively in 2015 and 2018, hitting at a 137 and 131 wRC+, respectively. In 2020 he signed a 3-year, $22 million deal with the Diamondbacks. He was paid $7 million of that in 2020 and is owed $7.5 million in both 2021 and 2022. The Cardinals are rumored to be looking to trade for him.
Quite frankly I do not think the Cardinals should want to do that. There is value in having a consistently above average outfielder and Peralta would not cost a lot, but there are a lot free agent outfield options that could provide similar value at a similar price.
