The Cardinals recalled right-handed pitcher Miguel Socolovich from Memphis on Friday after optioning Sam Tuivailala to the minors after Thursday night's game.
Socolovich appeared in two games during his first stint with the Cardinals in July, allowing one run in 3 2/3 innings. At Memphis he is 2-6 with five saves and a 3.14 ERA. He is tied for the Pacific Coast League lead in holds.
His career major league record is 4-1 with a 3.26 ERA.
