The 10-19 finish to the first month of the major league season for the Cardinals was one that included being 10 games out of first place in the National League Central, setting a 116-year-old club record for games out of first place for the club by May 1.
It was a month that not many had seen before, including Cardinals president Bill DeWitt III.
“We haven't had an April like this since we've been involved,” DeWitt III said on Tuesday. “I think it's a real clunker. You've got to go back in history to see months where we've been this bad.
