ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The St. Louis Cardinals have placed right-hander Lance Lynn on the 15-day disabled list with a forearm strain and will recall lefty Tyler Lyons to start Saturday against the Kansas City Royals.
General manager John Mozeliak was optimistic Friday that Lynn would be ready to rejoin the rotation in 15 days.
Both Mozeliak and manager Mike Matheny believed Lynn could have pitched through the injury, but did not want to risk losing him for a long time.
Lynn is 4-4 with a 3.07 ERA in 12 starts.
