JUPITER, Fla. • Fast-working righthander Michael Wacha said he didn’t think he would be affected by the 20-second pitch clock, an experiment this spring, and said he didn’t think much of it either.
Manager Mike Shildt is paying attention to it but he isn’t consumed by the employment of the pitch clock.
“These words could come back to haunt me but it’s not anything where I went home and said, ‘We’ve got to start working on this,’’ he said.
“There’s an offensive component as well, where the hitters have to make more adjustments than the pitchers.
