Since Matt Holliday went out in the first inning of last Wednesday’s game with his second quadriceps tear in two months, the Cardinals’ outfield for every inning but one thereafter has been, from left to right, Stephen Piscotty, Randal Grichuk and Jason Heyward.
All three have hit safely in all five games, with Piscotty at eight for 17 with three doubles, Grichuk seven for 19 with a homer and two doubles and Heyward eight for 17 with two doubles and a triple. Collectively, they are at .434 for that stretch.
Piscotty has hit safely in all 10 games he has started since coming up two weeks ago.
