PHILADELPHIA • What National League pitchers had been unable to do lately, influenza did, putting a crimp in Brandon Moss’ style.
Moss, the Cardinals’ top home hitter with 22 including four in his previous six games, was scratched from the lineup a few hours before Friday’s game. As his teammates took batting practice, Moss more or less was quarantined in the training room.
“Most of it was last night and today and he feels better,” said manager Mike Matheny. “But we’re going to try to keep him away (from the other players) until we need him to come off the bench and do some damage.
