Cardinals notes: Hazelbaker comes through in a pinch

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

PHILADELPHIA • A released player by the Los Angeles Dodgers at Class AA just more than a year ago when he was hitting .245, Cardinals outfielder Jeremy Hazelbaker, at nearly age 28, suddenly found himself trying to make a comeback at Class AA Springfield and then at Class AAA Memphis.

This year, continuing to gain favor, he found himself on the big-league roster when another player got hurt at the end of spring training. He became an April sensation, hitting .400 with power for the first couple of weeks but, in mid-June, returned to Memphis.
