Cardinals notes: Grichuk nearly spoils his own homer

As he watched to see if his first home run of the season was caught at the wall by Milwaukee’s leaping center fielder, Randal Grichuk almost stole it from himself.

The Cardinals outfielder made the turn at first base and momentarily passed his teammate Brandon Moss, who had returned to first to tag up. The umpire missed the overlap. The Brewers didn’t complain about it. And, after the 7-0 win and the two-run shot was in the books, the Cardinals mostly grinned about the mistake they skated on.

“Got to watch the film on that one,” Grichuk said.
