In the space of four innings Sunday, reigning National League Gold Glove first baseman Paul Goldschmidt of the Cardinals made one of his worst plays and then one of his best.
In the first, Chicago's Ian Happ hit a two-out roller to Goldschmidt, which went between his legs for an error, Goldschmidt's first of the season. He committed only two errors all last season.
But in the fourth inning, when it was coming apart for the Cardinals as the Cubs scored five runs to tie a game they eventually won 6-5 in 10 innings, Goldschmidt made a brilliant, unassisted double play to end the inning.
