With 19 games between each other and the claustrophobic standings in the division this past season, there are very few things the Cardinals and Chicago Cubs could keep from each other.
One of them takes the mound for Game 2 on Saturday.
Cardinals lefty Jaime Garcia did not pitch against the Cubs this past summer and has not faced the rivals since 2012, back when he was a different pitcher and the Cubs were a far different team. Cubs manager Joe Maddon has never seen Garcia in person, and neither of the Cubs’ leading hitters, Kris Bryant or Anthony Rizzo, has an at-bat against the lefty.
