PITTSBURGH — Although an All-Star out of the ninth inning with a snazzy record for first-time closers as a tailwind, Alex Reyes remains relatively new to the role and so many things about it, except how to take a bruising and rebound.
He’s been doing that for years just to get back on the mound.
“It goes back to a lot of the things I went through,” Reyes said, referencing shoulder injuries and elbow surgery that delayed his ascendance from prospect to regular. “Being able to put the big things behind me. I understand it’s a baseball game and every day is not going to be perfect.
