The former Cardinals fixture came back to where it all began this week, rejoining the Rockies’ lineup more than a decade after he left it. Holliday signed a minor-league deal with the Rockies in late July, and on Thursday the team that drafted him, developed him, and then traded him brought him back to Coors Field.
Holliday, 38, last played in the majors a year ago for the New York Yankees, but his one-year stint in pintstripes was foiled by a virus and an injury that sapped strength and health from him. He finished with a .231 average and 18 homers.
