The Cardinals' Jordan Hicks, who hasn't pitched in a game since June 2019, warms up Monday at spring training on a day in which he faced some of his teammates.

JUPITER, Fla. — Veteran lefthander Andrew Miller, having shaken off most of the effects and aftereffects of the coronavirus, made his first appearance against Cardinals hitters Monday afternoon and faced a group of batsmen that included Nolan Arenado, Paul Goldschmidt and Dylan Carlson. But he wasn’t the man the players and staff really were watching.
