PHILADELPHIA — Injured Cardinals pitcher Jack Flaherty is not with the team on its seven-game trip here and to Atlanta. And he might not be with it next weekend at home, either.
Flaherty, who has a right shoulder strain, has been on the 15-day injured list since Monday and has been instructed by doctors not to throw a ball for two to three weeks. Three weeks would take him to the All-Star break and then he likely would need another several weeks after that to get ready again, replete with another minor-league assignment.
In the meantime, Flaherty will be undergoing therapy in his home area of Los Angeles with a doctor on whom the Cardinals have agreed upon.
