SAN DIEGO — On the first day he was eligible to return to the active roster, the Cardinals added Dakota Hudson to the pitching staff.
Now comes the less obvious decision.
They’ve got to determine where the right-hander fits.
The Cardinals are having an ongoing internal discussion about how Hudson, who had a resurgent return to the rotation after a spell in the minors, can be best utilized in the final weeks of the regular season. Hudson was available out of the bullpen Wednesday, and for the next turn of the rotation, the Cardinals will not shift from the plan to have Adam Wainwright start Sunday at Dodger Stadium.
