PITTSBURGH— With six games slated against the second wild card-leading Cincinnati Reds in the next couple of weeks and the Cardinals still 3 ½ games behind them, it would seem that the Cardinals have to win at least four of the games.
“That’s probably fair,” manager Mike Shildt said before Sunday’s crushing 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh.
“We recognize we have to go in there and take care of business and win a couple of games of the next three we play against them (starting Monday night) and go from there.
“There’s other games around those games but in order to gain ground, you’ve got to gain ground.
