CHICAGO • With the possibility of either being eliminated or doing the eliminating in Game 4 on Tuesday at Wrigley Field, the Cardinals made their first public indication that they may veer from the stated plan of starting Lance Lynn.
Manager Mike Matheny left open the possibility when asked Monday.
He was questioned about having a starter picked for Game 4.
"No," Matheny said. "No."
This departs from what the Cardinals announced at the beginning of the series -- that Lance Lynn would start Game 4. Lynn has been told that he's starting Game 4, and on Sunday reaffirmed that he's preparing as if to start that game.
