PHILADELPHIA • Regardless of the fact that the two-run homer hit way back in the fourth inning Wednesday afternoon broke a tie, what happened next reverberated through the game more than anything that appeared on the scoreboard.
Michael Wacha, the Cardinals' starter who allowed the homer to Cesar Hernandez, was unable to complete the fourth inning of his start against the Phillies because of a muscle strain in his left side. The oblique injury could keep Wacha out for at least a month, possibly two, depending on the severity.
The Cardinals tied the game twice on home runs by Yadier Molina.
