ST. LOUIS -- The Cardinals were still gathering doctors' opinions as of Wednesday afternoon, but early reads of Matt Adams' MRI exam indicate that he will miss significant time due to a right quadriceps strain.
Adams, who sustained the injury while running between first and second during Tuesday's 6-4 win over the D-backs, was placed on the 15-day disabled list but will miss much more than the requisite two weeks, general manager John Mozeliak confirmed. The Cardinals were waiting to learn whether the MRI identified a Grade 2 or Grade 3 tear. The latter would require surgery to repair.
