The Cardinals' offense had put runners on base and produced runs like a machine in their last eight games entering Sunday. Turns out, all it took to shut down that machine was a knuckleball.
Braves knuckleballer R.A. Dickey confounded the Cardinal lineup and ended the team's eight-game win streak. The Cardinals got just five hits against in the first six innings against Dickey, and they only put one of those runners in scoring position.
They mounted a rally in the seventh and eighth innings, but it wasn't enough. The Cardinals lost to the Braves 6-3.
Starting opposite Dickey, Cardinals pitcher Michael Wacha entered Sunday having won six of his last eight starts.
