After the St. Louis Cardinals dropped Game 3 of the NLDS to the Chicago Cubs despite scoring four runs off of the invincible Jake Arrieta, one could easily predict the hysteria and panic many would have on social media and Twitter. As he teased prior to Game 3, leaving the door open for an appearance by John Lackey on three days rest, it did not take long after the loss for manager Mike Matheny to announce that his 36-year old horse would take the ball for Game 4 on short-rest.
