Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams, who appeared to knock knees with Phillies first baseman Darin Ruf in Thursday's first inning, was removed from the game before the fifth.
Adams was pulled for precautionary reasons, according to a press box announcement. He has a left knee contusion.
Randal Grichuk has entered the game to play center field and bat fourth. Brandon Moss moved to first. And Jeremy Hazelbaker shifted from center to left field.
The Cardinals lead the Phillies 1-0 halfway through the fifth.
Adams and Ruff collided on the last out of the first inning as Adams successfully corralled a throw by starting pitcher Jaime Garcia.
