In the weeks leading up to the Cardinals selecting him 70th overall in this month’s amateur draft and the days that followed, Alec Burleson always knew what was ahead on the calendar, from the call he’d get, to the decision he’d make, to what arrived Monday: a formal contract offer.
Now that he’s signed it, he’s not sure what’s next.
“Prior to getting it I always knew what was around the corner, what the next thing I had to do was, and now — I don’t really know, but I’ll stay ready,” Burleson said Monday evening. “I don’t think it really sunk in it that I was officially a Cardinal until I put my name on that dotted line.
