Cardinals fall behind 5-4 after Reds score

Reliever Trevor Rosenthal did not have a great eighth inning.

The Cardinals set-up man allowed the first three batters he faced to reach base with two walks and a single. Two batters later, first baseman Joey Votto then drove home the go-ahead run with an RBI single to put Cincinnati up 5-4.

Rosenthal avoided further damage by striking out Adam Duvall and getting Eugenio Suarez to ground out, however.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Cardinals got a leadoff single from right fielder Stephen Piscotty, but he was caught stealing when Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina struck out.
