CHICAGO • The Arizona Diamondbacks’ massive overhaul of its leadership could once again lead them to draw from the Cardinals, this time at manager.
Cardinals bench coach David Bell is one of the candidates being considered for the D-Backs’ open manager position, The Arizona Republic reported late Sunday. Bell just completed his third year on manager Mike Matheny’s staff, the past two spent as the bench coach.
The Cardinals had expected Bell to receive interest for openings. Bell, 44, came to the Cardinals after being the third-base coach for the Cubs and a Class AAA manager in Cincinnati’s organization.
