The Cardinals had their starting outfield together Friday night for the first time since May 17 when Dylan Carlson, his strained left hamstring having healed, joined Tyler O’Neill, just off the injured list after his right shoulder got better, and Harrison Bader.
“We’ve got a lot to prove,” said Carlson. “We’ve got a lot to do out there. We’re focused and we’re ready to roll.”
Manager Oliver Marmol said, “When you can put O’Neill, Bader and Carlson out there, there’s a lot of plays that get made.” But Marmol said that he would be careful in his use of Carlson, meaning he would use Carlson — and O’Neill, too — as a designated hitter or just rest them, occasionally.
