Cardinals call up Scruggs, Garcia

After scoring only eight runs over four games against the Minnesota Twins this week, the Cardinals made moves Friday to bolster their offense.

The club recalled lefthanded-hitting infielder Greg Garcia and righthanded power hitter Xavier Scruggs from Memphis, and optioned catcher Ed Easley and relief pitcher Mitch Harris to the Triple-A team.

Garcia batted .313 with a .405 on-base percentage at Memphis, and hit .362 with runners in scoring position. He played primarily at shortstop but also started 17 games at second base. Garcia is making his 2015 debut with the Cardinals; he played 14 games for St.
