Cardinals' bats quiet against Dodger bullpen

When second baseman Greg Garcia -- who entered during a double switch -- singled with one out in the seventh, it was the first Cardinals hit since the second inning.

After scoring three times against Dodgers starter Kenta Maeda in the first, the Cardinals' bats have cooled off mightily. That lone hit in the second inning, aside from Garcia's in the seventh, was a Jose Martinez single.

And because of baseball's propensity for randomness, the very next batter after Garcia -- center fielder Dexter Fowler -- singled as well.

Neither man came home to score though, as Tommy Pham and Matt Carpenter both struck out after Fowler's knock.
