“I think the most rewarding thing is when you do get those guys out, when you get to pitch in the big situations or against the big hitters,” Miller said, recalling what he said earlier to teammates. “You don’t get a whole lot of praise for getting the guys out you should get out. It’s when you step up and get the big names out. … That’s how you build confidence — by having success against people maybe you’re not expected to.”
In his first Grapefruit League appearance with his new team, Miller allowed a blistered single on his first pitch, loaded the bases before he got an out, and threw more balls (13) than strikes (eight).
