JUPITER, Fla. • For those who despair of the Cardinals’ possible lack of power, consider that for seven of the last eight seasons, the Cardinals actually have out-homered their opponents, missing out only in 2014 when they had a league low 105 homers while giving up 123.
Last year, they had a 137-123 advantage despite having just one player, Matt Carpenter, with more than 20 home runs. The 2015 season also marked the first time since 1993 when Mark Whiten had 25 homers that the club had only one slugger with 20 or more homers for a full season.
