What began as a bullpen start for the Milwaukee Brewers ended in a tough-to-swallow bullpen loss for Bud Norris and the Cardinals bullpen Monday night at Busch Stadium.
The Brewers used nine relievers, including lefty Dan Jennings, who exited after retiring leadoff hitter Matt Carpenter in the Cardinals' first inning, and came up with runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings to post a 6-4 win.
With five games left in the regular season, Milwaukee (90-67) moved to within 1 ½ games of the NL Central-leading Chicago Cubs and are three games ahead of the Cardinals (87-70) in the wild-card race.
