Matt Bowman entered Tuesday's game with a 19 2/3 inning scoreless streak, but that came to end in an unexpected fashion in the seventh inning.
With pinch hitter Chris Coghlan standing at first base, Blue Jays center fielder Kevin Pillar lined a ball off the right field wall. Cardinals right fielder Stephen Piscotty picked up the rebound to try to nail Coghlan coming home, but then the crazy happened.
Piscotty's throw hit catcher Yadier Molina on one hop and Coghlan should have been dead to rights. But Coghlan, with Molina blocking the basepath a few feet up the line, cleanly jumped head first over Molina and landed on home plate for the Blue Jays' third run.
