ST. LOUIS • Cardinals reliever Matt Bowman, who received treatment for a lack of blood flow to the fingertips on his right hand, has officially joined shortstop Paul DeJong on a rehab assignment with Class AAA Memphis.
Both players will be active for the game Friday in Des Moines, Iowa, where the Redbirds play the Iowa Cubs this weekend.
DeJong received official clearance to begin his rehab assignment Thursday, and he left Busch Stadium on Wednesday night with his gear for a trip to join the Triple-A team in Memphis. DeJong has missed a month with a fracture in his left hand.
