JUPITER, Fla. • A little bit of history. . . well, a lot of Cardinals history was in evidence Thursday morning in the clubhouse. The last two Cardinals pitchers to throw the final out for a World Series champion had a long chat.
Adam Wainwright, relief hero of the 2006 World Series win over Detroit, still is with the club. Jason Motte, who recorded the final out of the 2011 Series championship against Texas, was visiting on behalf of his “K Cancer” Foundation, hoping to create more awareness of and raise funds for the fight against cancer.
