If the Cardinals can't count on Jonathan Broxton to finish the ninth inning of a game they lead 6-2, what purpose does the righthanded reliever serve?
The question moved to the background Sunday, since the Cardinals held on to beat the Brewers 6-4, winning for the sixth time in their last seven games.
The Cardinals are one win shy of .500. They're 1.5 games out of first place. The gloom and doom created by a 3-9 start has subsided to some degree.
