How's this for a sign of respect? On the evening Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez found out he was joining the Baseball Hall of Fame, he used part of his teleconference with writers to predict the future induction of Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina.
“The only thing I would love is to see him stay strong mentally and physically," Rodriguez said. "Stay healthy and he’s going to be in the Hall of Fame, for sure."
These comments are almost identical to what Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench told Derrick Goold back in 2013:
“If he stays healthy, call me in 10 years," said Bench back then.
